CRAZY ANGELS LOVE GIGGLES!

This is an actual tag from behind my friend Annie's house in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. A whole lot of tags used to decorate the wall across from her garage: pitchforks, stars of david, and names like “Ruka,” “Blood,” and “Vida Loca.”

The warehouse wall was a cruddy brown color and Annie's alley is one of the worst: big holes in the pavement, food dumped out of the trash bins, drunks and junk collectors moseying through and scaring the rats and stray cats.

But help from the city is never far off in Pilsen. The grafitti removal team moved through and relieved the warehouse wall of its grafitti, using the same cruddy brown paint that had provided an excellent backdrop for it before.

Now the wall is bare and brown, except for the lone, courageous tag that says everything and nothing about the hard life of gangbangers living on Chicago's mean streets:
